When we were asked to design a new workspace for this manufacturing facility in Pune, we wanted to make sure that the users of the space felt connected to the design. One of the fundamental inspirations was to reflect the industrial nature of the facility.
We didn't stop at simply using design elements that were inspired from the products they manufacture. We asked them to divert their in house production resources to prototype and fabricate the elements for the furniture designed for the office A hands-on approach was demanded from the users to get certain assemblies ready and to close off the project.
While the client is wondering whether mutually beneficial exchanges are exploitative, we are calling this a truly collaborative effort.
