LOCATION: VADODARA, GUJARAT.
1. ORIGINALITY /INNOVATION/CREATIVITY:
The unit called to achieve” the pleasure of farm house within the city limits”. The brief called for a clean, spick and span approach with a twist of using minimum of color palate and materials. An element of continuity was designed in the house to create an alluring effect and to make the eyes travel with the design.
A water body and abstraction of Zen gardens gives us the direction and binds us with the divine on the other hand and wrapping the pooja space. The formal living has an opening at the eye level of the person sitting in & making the vision of nature unending. It houses a rare concept of nature with grey hues. An art work on the wall is made by incorporating pastel shades of every element in the room. . The plain canvas of the room got a break through by this mural.
Within the home, a recreational area, informal Bar is blended inn. The aesthetic is modern, integrated with a minimalistic approach towards living.

Like other spaces in this home, the bedrooms are elegant and simple without being run –of-the mill. Maximum natural light; wind and vision are allowed to come through huge openings in the house.. Massing of objects, with straight sharp lines following the concept of contrasting shades of light and dark define the bedrooms.
2. FUNTIONALITY /EFFICIENCY AND FIDELITY TO CLIENTS BRIEF :
The unit design called for a feeling of amalgamation with nature. Different spaces where integrated in the house according to the clients brief. A linear passage is designed in such a way that an eye can be maintained on every activity of the house. Every space connects with the nature outside as demanded by the clients. The family room houses a dining room which is visually connected with kitchen, which in turn has a service table that it doubles as a work area.
Concrete slabs, stone walls and wood are used to construct the buildings, while walls and floor nearing the garden are given a matte finish, to mimic the dry grasses of the summer, setting the buildings into the landscape”.to achieve the feeling of a farm house within the city premises,
A sense of abundance of space was created by merging the “inn with the out “as demanded by the clients.
3. CONTEXTUAL REFERENCE AND ENVIRONMENT CONCERNS:
In the quiet suburbs of Alkapuri, Baroda, there is a conceptually designed housing colony; where homes are arranged around a centrally located common plot. Every room opens in garden giving ample of natural light in the house thus saving the power. South west winds are utilized by creating huge opening in that direction to reduce consumption of electricity.
4. DETAILING/USE OF MATERIAL:
A water body and abstraction of Zen gardens with a concrete bench at the entrance establishes the mood of person entering the house. Water body gives us the direction and binds us with the divine on the other hand and wrapping the pooja space.
In the foyer a geometrical metamorphosis of a rectangular shape is designed as a screen to get an indirect vision. Metal plate and wood is merged to create a modern abstraction of a leaf which acts functionally as a door handle.
Openings at the eye level of the person sitting in makes the vision of nature unending in all major areas.
An art work on the wall is made by incorporating pastel shades of every element in the room. The mural is created from a basic material MDF sheet and given a classic appearance by aligning it linearly. The plain canvas of the room got a break through by this mural
Bar with the concept of light and shadow has the basic engraving and embossing techniques with plain hues, which are used to create such an elegant light element in the bar area which is also clubbed by a dining space .A tint of color and a sense of artistic space in an area with grey floor and white ceiling are added by temporary elements like sofa and an original Painting on the wall.
Upper floor houses bed rooms of their son’s. Different effects are achieved by engraving and embossing elements on p.u finished walls, planks of new wood with different colors and textures, wall arts. Wooden planks are meticulously punctured and used as a back drop of the bed. Toilet door is clubbed with same effects to make it look one with the wall. . Neolithic ceramic sheet having an impression of marble serves as the headboard with grey sheds on the wall. The bed room on the right gives an impression of artistic touch by using different art pieces. Straight sharp lines are carved on mdf board and painted with p.u paint, so the toilet door is conveniently flush with the wall in the son’s bedroom.
5. COHESION TO CONCEPT IN DESIGN DEVELOPMENT:
The concept of bringing nature into the house and the feel of abundance of space is derived from clients brief. They wanted a feeling of unending space and nature within the home. Thus the use of earthy material and textures, low lighting levels etc. was made in the design. Creation of linear passage connecting it with kitchen, foyer, living room and family space was made to maintain an eye an on the whole house .An unending experience was achieved by opening every space into the garden outside. Every transaction space is created in a manner that delivers clients thoughts of cauldron of different spaces. The connection between interior and exterior was not an afterthought, it is interwoven.
Natural light and vision is balanced by creating huge openings.. Simple proportions and feeling of abundance of space was created by juxtaposition of masses.
6. SENSORIAL AND SPATIAL EXPERIENCES:
The spaces are arranged along the periphery walls that define and support the structures of the house and in return merges with the nature outside. Simple proportions and feeling of abundance of space was created by juxtaposition of masses.
Passage acts as the main spine in the house. . A concept of vastness is achieved by a passage leading to a garden. Screens add an element of curiosity in such spaces. Spaces are divided according to the public, semi private and private zones with the help of passage, in return passage giving a direction to walk with directional lights.
The concept of kitchen, dining, and family space was envisaged such that all these spaces were visually connected. Visual connection between spaces was achieved by the metal screen fixed with glass. The dual pleasure typical homey atmosphere and feel of abundance is achieved. Richness and love for art is displayed through use of earthy materials and original paintings and murals by architects themselves..
