Commissioned by Lambeth Borough Council and GLL, this interactive light sculpture represents one of the largest public art projects undertaken in the area for over a decade.
The project involved liaising with all of the stakeholders, the local community and the Local Authority in order to evolve a design that would suit everyone’s needs. The piece transforms the exterior of the leisure centre into a vibrant artwork that is controlled directly by the local community. The undulating piece is inspired by wave patterns and responds to movement in the pool. The lights can be controlled by members of the public via text messaging, allowing local people to change the colour of the building and trigger light shows.
