kaos hotel agrigento

the kaos hotel in agrigento sicily, is a big compound built in the 90’s, which has been recently rehabilitated by our office. project bonds are to be found in the existing windows and in some special finishes. the bathroom of each room is in a higher position if compared to the bedroom. the bathroom flooring consists in wooden stoves and hosts a big shower. the shower is separated from the room thanks to an opaque grey glass that filters natural light. the materials chosen – white wood or whitened oak with some orange – are perfectly integrated in sicilian landscape. each hotel wing presents its own chromatic personalization, in corridors, colours and room numbers, following different themes inspired by earth, wind, fire, water. each room is personalized with photographic prints, various sicilian views, giving life to an art gallery inside the hotel. the project of the hall and of the new bar is inspired by chaos concept: the columns bases turn into circular seats characteri- zed by different shapes and tissues. the columns, coated with whitened oak, turn into light sources. ceiling fan-coils are positioned inside metallic circular structures and covered, at the bottom, with artistic sicilian ceramics. each element has a different ceramic decoration, a delicate link with tradition. lighting design has been done with particular care: bar and reception have small lights that underline their importance. these lights are the only elements coming down from the ceiling. circles and spheres represent the most recurrent shapes of the project in order to remind water drops falling on things randomly but always in harmony with each other.
