Iredus restaurant and bar is the culinary brainchild of Raghuraj Kanudia, a first time restaurateur. The core idea was to create a space that gets known primarily for artisanal alcohols, beverages and food.
The key challenge was to generate a narrative for the space that fostered curiosity and yet had a sense of timelessness. The design also needed to find a way to connect the two floors and the outdoor area, which we converted to an outdoor dining space. The courtyard itself was surrounded by neighboring garbage dumps and needed an intervention that converted it into a cocoon.
This was to create a space that would allow customers to feel truly comfortable and at ease with themselves. Also making a space where Iredus would be able to curate their liquors, wines and other handcrafted products. The key areas to be created were a restaurant with formal dining, bar area and garden courtyard – these variously different but interlinked zones had to be entwined together in a harmonious way that would give a timeless narrative to the space, whilst also creating a dynamic venue for global food and international beverages to be tasted and savored, crafting an identity for the space that felt like being at home.
