  • The new classroom: Nursery/kid’s room by M+P

    The new classroom

Since the structure was planned according to the old layout of the school. Since we replanned the classes, the columns and beams were visible in the classroom. We used these to our advantage by planning doors and opening accordingly and using a mosaic tile flooring in place of the removed wall.

    Classroom—textured walls

The wire cut brick walls we kept unplastered. They were painted white to reflect more natural light. The no colour was added to walls as we wanted them to act as a neutral palette for children's art and craft work . None of the classrooms require artificial light during the day.

The new partition walls were made considering storage and small cubbyholes for children to sit in. We planned vaults at the base of the wall as it will break the angular feel of the room and avoid using lintels of any sort. The vault thickness is used for storage and the room remains free of any other unit. Mosaic work done on the walls of the vault to add different animal shape silhouettes. These act as passive learning aids.
