Merel Bekking (1987) graduated in 2011 at the Utrecht School of the Arts, pathway Product Design. In 2012 she started her own design studio and design on her own initiative and commissioned. Regularly Merel is hired as Creative Thinker or consultant.
The work of Merel Bekking is primarily Research-based Design. Every subject is fully explored and examined from every possible angle. Perspective changes also play a major role in Bekkings work.
In 2013 Merel is selected for Driving Dutch Design. Driving Dutch Design is an initiative of ABN AMRO, Association of Dutch Designers (BNO) and Dutch Design Week/Capital D. With DDD they want to help young designers to create a bridge between creation and commerce. A whole year long there will be several masterclasses and Merel Bekking will be assigned a personal coach from ABN AMRO.
In 2013 and 2014 Merel has received grants from the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, for Internationalisering Creatieve Industrie.
