tl;dr - Do not use this company to move your belongings!
Much of our home furnishings were damaged, broken, or scratched due to packing on the truck and loading or unloading rush. We chose to pack our own belongings. We opted to purchase insurance to cover damages. When I filed the claim I was informed that the insurance did not cover damage to items not packed by them. Then why did they ask me if I wanted insurance since they knew we were going to pack ourselves? The lack of care to our belongings was enough for us to not use this company again, but this scam of selling insurance for something they know they are not going to cover amounts to fraud which they should be held accountable for by the legal system! Unfortunately they know that the average consumer does not have the resources to put forth the fight so they get away with it.
I got a quote to move to Michigan as well as purchase some materials and I was very pleased with their help and service.

We recently used them to pack a u-haul we had. Their quote was on the high side, but we really wanted a professional crew to pack the truck for us so our items would arrive in good shape. We got blankets and straps like they told us to, but most of them were badly placed or not used at all. The crew was nice, but their rush to get us taken care of was shown when we went to close the door of the truck and items they had stacked were so high it blocked the door so they then had to repack part of the truck. On top of that when we arrived and the moving crew who was unpacking us found multiple items damaged or completely broken. I wrote to them to tell them about our experience and I got an email saying they were shocked and would look into it. It has now been over a month with no communication from them not even a basic apology. Overall a very disappointing experience.
I am very disappointed in this moving company. I had to ask them to go pick up my stuff twice, and they did not show up the second time. I had to pay extra to ship my stuff back, which I would not recommend. If you're looking for a reliable moving company, I would not recommend Carey Moving & Storage.
I had Carey Moving and Storage pack my apartment for a move and they were terrible. They damaged my furniture and broke my dishes. I paid them a very large sum of money and they didn't even care. They said they would compensate me, but it was not much. I would never recommend them.
I moved with Carey Moving and Storage and am not happy with the service I received. I had several issues with the movers, including the fact that they were late and did not take care of my possessions. I'm not happy with the company, so I would not recommend it to others.

Review from 2022: This year, the delivery team was exceptional. They had to deal with my frustrations with the pouring rain and limited space and never gave me the feeling of their own frustrations. Their manager called me and tried to help assess a solution for them but alas, there was no other way for us to manage the delivery with our limited space in the rain. I'm afraid I lost my cool a bit in the beginning of the call but was quickly calmed by Jennifer as she totally was understanding of our limitations. As always, it was a pleasure to work with Carey Moving, even when I was super frustrated by the weather.
Review from several years ago: Girl Scout Leader here! Cookie delivery last year was a total disaster. This year, the team was courteous, kind, and thoughtful. They even let my elderly neighbor try and give them instructions without being rude. They were great.
We used Carey Moving & Storage for our move from Asheville, NC to Mars Hill, NC. The men were on time, very professional and very courteous. Nothing was broken or damaged. They completed the move in one day and the cost was substantially less than the quoted price. We would definitely use them again.
I arranged for Carey Storage and and Movers to move my 92 year old parents several weeks ago. I spoke with both Ronnie and Jennifer to make the arrangements. Both were very professional and super nice!
The team they sent today was Amazing! Very professional very knowledgeable , courteous, kind and patient. Jose , Amp and Kenny made this moving experience so easy on my parents. They went over and beyond anyones expectations ! I would most definitely recommend Carey Storage and Movers!

My first experience with Carey was 28 years ago. It was a positive experience. I decided to use them again with an out of state move from SC. I used their website to request an estimate. Two hours later a customer service rep called me to confirm date and time for the estimate. We needed a pack and move for a two level 4BR home. The prices was what I expected. Annette helped us coordinate the dates and time. Communication by phone and email were excellent. Additional packing supplies for our own use was provided at no extra cost. Carey packed one day, loaded and transit the next. Within 24 hours delivery date was confirmed. Everything was on time with phone communication so we could prepare. Nothing was damaged. After the move I needed a zero balance invoice. It was provided same day. The packers, loaders, driver Kenny and office staff - went above and beyond taking care of us and our things. I would highly recommend Carey to friends, family and any customer needing excellent movers.

Our Girl Scout cookies were delivered by Carey Moving & Storage and they were awesome! They were earlier than expected, and gave us notice in a timely fashion. They were quick, and thorough, when they offloaded the cookies, also. Two thumbs up! 👍🏼 👍🏼
The crew was pleasant to work with. They put the cookies where we needed them to go. They had our order off the truck in a short period of time and we’re on their way to the next stop. We had no damage to the cases that we could see.

The absolute worst experience! I have moved many times- across states. This was a heartbreaking experience. The movers broke antiques, dropped boxes, failed to load the truck properly and seemed clueless. But worse yet I cannot get the company to pay for the damage - or even call me back. Pitiful. Unprofessional. Disgusting. Sad, but it seems I will have to file in court to get any resolution.
