My clients were a retired couple who wanted a low maintenance garden. The terrace needed enlarging and screening from the sun. A water feature was required and the existing shed had to be incorporated. Clean lines and a planting scheme of oranges and blues were requested. I opted to remove the lawn and use stone and gravel paving, with oak sleepers for steps and retaining walls. The new pergola was painted grey and incorporates a chain link down which water drips into a galvanised steel trough set into the ground. A custom made curved willow screen was made for the bottom of the garden to provide a secluded and sheltered seating area.
