After the initial discussions with our home owners—The Özenç Family,

Mehmet and Çigdem Özenç and their lovely daughters – we as Lina Interior Design ( www.linaicmimarlik.com)  decided to focus on a contemporary style home design which actually is also consistent with the outer architectural design of the house. After mutual consensus with the home owners, we have concluded the interior design to be a mix of wood, marble, cotton and linen based furnitures and materials. On the other hand, we have preferred to use bronze and brass made lightings for creating a warm harmony along.

The 500 m2 house -which, by the way, is an award-winning design in Europe- is constructed with special concrete blocks on the inside and with neolith based panels covered on the outer surface. The house is constructed of 3 floors: the entrance level which opens up to a lovely 500 m2 backyard and 120 m2 of patio area, actually consists of a grand living room, kitchen, study room and guest bathroom; the upper floor hosts 2 children rooms and bathrooms, master bedroom with a separate bathroom and a dressing room and a 100 m2 balcony with a nice view of the city. At final, the basement is designed for general purpose storage area and as a game room. The whole house is furnished with big windows and full wall size doors which allows the light to travel throughout the entire house and also creates a gallery space.

Light colors are preferred in the bedrooms to create a radiant environment within the bedroom. We tried to use as much soft colors and as much linen as possible which is actually in line with the modest- elegant style of the homeowners. In addition, we used bold and striking paintings and posters in order to create vitality.

Master bedroom on the second floor is accommodated with a dressing room and a separate bathroom which was constructed with imported marbles, ceramics and tailor design modules. We also added a marble basin to create a harmony in between the contemporary bathroom design with old ottoman style bathroom design; which actually was a special request by the homeowners. The bathroom faces the master bedroom through a full wall size window which allows the utilization of the sunlight into the bathroom.

Each of the children bedrooms were designed with light colors and functional play areas which was specifically requested by the younger family members. Imported ceramics and marbles were used in both of the kids bathrooms which were designed specifically for each one of them.

A contemporary design is chosen for the barriers along the stairs and the stairs itself. Light spots were located throughout the stairs back to back along with some other light details on the side walls and at the ceilings. We also furnished the hall opening which was a high ceiling coming from the first floor all the way to the top ceiling of the house, with an elegant chandelier; and used remote-controlled curtains on the main hall high windows.

Different lighting systems used along with the ceiling designs of the grand living room and the lighting system was chosen to be adjustable type. Light colors were preferred in the grand living room. However we also used punched style blue velvet berger sofa to create a contrast. A TV was located right above the well-insulated fireplace and both the TV and the fireplace were embedded inside of a marble chamber. The middle section of the grand living room was furnished with special design bronze mirrors and double bronze tables.

The kitchen consists of 3 areas. The dining area: a marble dining table is located in the middle of the dining room which is surrounded with chairs made of special linen fabric. Both the table and the chairs are tailor made designs and are fabricated per special order; The American style counter area: which is designed with a high wooden counter top and bar chairs; and the actual cooking area: is designed with lean concrete material in white color. There is actually a hidden door which looks like a cabinet itself on one side of the kitchen which opens up to a hidden kitchen storage area.

In the guest bathroom, we used a black ceramic sink which goes all the way to the floor level, the walls of the bathroom are furnished with different style wall paper, black and white posters and bronze wall lights. We also preferred to work with light wooden look alike ceramic flooring on the bathroom groundwork.

At the main entrance level of the house, big gray ceramic rectangular tile flooring is preferred whereas laminate wooden flooring was preferred on the second floor and rectangular ceramic tiles at both of the balcony and the patio areas. The tailor made doors within the entire house were painted with white lacquer paint and, with black lacquer paint with glass on the doors in the grand living room and the main entrance hall.

The Housewife – Çiğdem Özenç – requested a special hobby and study room for herself. We used linen soft fabric for the furnitures and included a hard-wood library in the study room design with addition of some wall lights and standing lamps to create a warm environment in the study room.

On the outside of the house, we surrounded a portion of the patio area on the first floor with full glass windows and included a garden chimney within to create a living area.

At last, a tailor made dog house which was a small replica of the main home was constructed for the lovely dog of the family and is located in the garden area.

As the main designer of Lina Iç Mimarlik—MD Interior Designer Kadriye Ertekin Cazgır -   loves to see and experience the Deja vu, naturalism and differentiation feelings embedded in her interior designs during the project design and execution phases. For this reason, she likes to use the natural and untouched structures of the materials and tries to use them the way they are as much as possible. Since the Özenç Family is sharing the same mentality, it has been a great privilege and experience to create the living environment for the ÖZENÇ Family and to be able to see them satisfied with the outcome.
