Small restaurants are usually tight projects with the challenge being balancing economy-project
management and time constraints while delivering a impactful space. Many times such projects tend to be overdone or too basic. For this project we decided to intervene in the space in a very subtle way. We have a wooden accent wall with a live kitchen window and the rest of the space is mostly just a dull wash of white. Paintings adorn the wall and the furniture adds a bit of the blue in the space. Café also happen to be the best kinds of projects for thematic expression and connections. Hence the “Pinjra” appears multiple times throughout the projects both 2d derivations and 3d derivations in light fixtures and others. The space opts for a very minimal contemporary look however is still tactically rooted in regional textures, finishes and material palette. The client’s brief to the ASD was to create a contemporary eatery that bind their guests to its beautifully designed surroundings and the food within certain constraints like small area and low budget. Thus derived the concept of PINJRA and This is how ASD formulated the concept to create the whole story. Façade have well crafted Pinjra sculpture on its name board with great appearance, inviting entrance with sitting outside, large glass windows, half opaque glass keeping the privacy of the space as well as visually connecting the inside outside area. A wall with a long Strip section window separating the dinning with the kitchen yet creating visual connection to its guests and inviting. Having wooden panelling with melamine polish giving it Front wall with a bronze mirror throughout the dimension gives depth to the place. A very well handcrafted textured wall achieved with local tools on the simple plastered wall that compliment the rustic look of the place and keep it at low cost. ASD Studio | 201, Nami Nagar Ext.
