Villa E7 has been surrounded by a completely different set of challenges and possibilities.

The challenge was to work upon the exisiting civil structural envelope as commissioned on site, and to enhance it in a way that it corresponds to the urban design controls applicable in the locality. Moreover, the task at hand was interior designing as against interior decoration.

The possibilities were nevertheless to work upon fresh and chic design ideas.

The villa is to be used as a weekend retreat by the owner, where the primary concern has been abundant natural light and ventilation.The layout has been re-configured as per the requirements to provides larger rooms and their integration to the landscaped area in the front and the rear setbacks. The rear side is further flanked by a golf course that provides ample cool and fresh breeze to enter the house. The villa also incorporates a roof-top bar with independent landscaped zones.

Design Language

With minimal changes to the exterior (owing to the strict laws of the housing society), the villa achieves its identity through a massive stone-clad facade. Large openings and glazing are designed on the front northern façade that provide ample natural light in the house during the day time without heat gains.

Design Elements : Guest Bedroom

The bedroom is designed with the bed, study and window seating overlooking the golf course ahead. With all the fixed-furniture positioned along the walls, the warmth of the wooden flooring aids to the floating activities in the central space.

Design Elements : Drawing Room

The formal drawing room features a suspended wooden ceiling carved with intricate geometric patterns. The grandeur of the ceiling and the richness of the stone-clad walls create a lasting impression on the guests.

Design Elements : Living & Dining Room

Living and dining areas are planned as one space without any physical barrier to maintain the sumptuous view of the golf course ahead. The different zones are rather defined by the design of the ceiling. The ochre Jaisalmer stone flooring adds warmth to the informal space.

Design Elements : Master bedroom

Geometric interlace pattern on the ceiling adds distinctive detail to the bedroom. Wooden battens and the textured wall offer a comfortable zone for study and introspection.
