The kitchen is the heart of the home; it is where food stories and created (and shattered), and where doting parents spend their time creating delicious and nutritional masterpieces for their families. It is of utmost importance to have a functional kitchen, whilst aesthetics play a huge role, being able to navigate oneself successfully around a kitchen is of utmost importance. On top of this, the kitchen is a room where we accumulate appliances, food stuffs and white goods. We're not necessarily talking about unwanted gifts, but items we don't have the heart to throw away because we believe we will have a use for them in the future.

On top of this, colour has a huge role in how we feel when we cook. A kitchen shouldn't be dark and moody, it should be lively and fun! Therefore, today on homify, we are going to take a look at some wonderful examples of modern kitchen colours from our Indian experts. Not only are these spaces functional, but they are also sleek, attractive and bursting with colour and life!

Slick & sleek

the blue kitchen

ZERO9

This stunning kitchen design has been completed by Zero9, who have created ’The blue kitchen’ we see pictured. The two parallel counters mean that the occupants can easily navigate the space from side to side, having access to a huge amount of bench and storage space. The positioning has also created a funnel for the rear window, beaming the natural light into every corner in the room. The shiny, laminated finish helps the light to bounce further, illuminating all the nooks and crannies that may have been dark otherwise. Blue is also a great choice for a modern kitchen, it is serene and calming—the perfect emotions one should experience during their culinary experiences!

Passionate red

Cooking is a passionate feat, so red is a great choice to further that feeling. This seductive kitchen space has been designed by Neeras Design Studio, and is so lively that it would make anyone feel excited to tackle a new recipe. The deep burgundy red is the perfect complementary colour to the stark white and chrome tones that are present. It also creates an interesting effect—as you can see, the red is only seen inside the space. Aside from drawing us in, it also shows, perhaps subliminally, the defining points between where the kitchen starts and finishes. This is a really creative way to partition spaces, especially if you have an open plan living room and kitchen area.

Green supreme

Green is the colour of nature, and since nature gives birth to the majority of the nourishment for our bodies, it is a very fitting colour for a modern day kitchen. The wall stickers are a playful and fun way to remind yourself of what goes on in this space, describing the amazing things that happen within a kitchen in some very punchy buzz words! These wall stickers are a great addition, because they can be changed very easily. You can update the words, or images as often as you like to give your kitchen a touch of something new. Home makers kitchens, love to cater to the discerning cook, and consider all the most important aspects of kitchen design in the planning process with you.

Muted tones

Black and white are the perfect couple; they never clash, and are always in harmony with one another. As you can see, the black benchtop in this kitchen area radiates the space, creating a point of difference from the expanse of white. There are also two very fundamental and important factors that have been thought through in this design; there is a huge amount of storage space, and the area has access to a fan and huge rangehood, which means there will be no lingering heat or cooking smells in the space. This is a sleek and modern concept by TS Space Transformations that would certainly fit any home and budget.

Earthy delights

Brown is the colour of the earth, and when coupled together with beige and white, is used to full effect. The marble wall negates the need for a splash back, instead, creating an interesting feature element of this space. The delicate vein is amplified and complemented by the shiny black marble benchtop, furthering the vibe of luxury and elegance in the space. Ajinkya Interiors have executed a very homely, and poised kitchen that includes all the modern features, fittings and fixtures.
