The bedroom is one of the most important rooms in our homes; it is our sanctuary, our retreat, and our respite from the busy schedules that plague our daily lives. For some, the task of choosing a style that will transcend through the decades can be quite a task. Sometimes, trends that we fall in love with in magazines may not end up suiting our budgets, nor will they stand the test of time. The key to choosing a bedroom that will never date, or that you will forever be in love with, requires you to keep the base simple, and add decorative elements which can be easily interchanged based on seasons and trends, such as bed linen, quilt covers, rugs and pillows. Today on homify, we are going to show you a selection of modern bedroom designs that fulfill the above description—interchangeable, seasonable and of course, really good looking!

Green with envy

a classique bedroom

This stunning bedhead with white fabric insert is a wonderful addition to any bedroom. As you can see, it would go with a myriad of different bed linen styles and decorative elements—you can use your creative license to the very best of your ability. This style allows the occupant to change the style of their bedroom as often as they please. The addition of green is a great choice for a bedroom as it is a calming and relaxing colour. ZERO9 has successfully created a serene and charming bedroom fit for any king or queen!

Muted tones

A bedroom that employs strict geometry and a muted colour palette will always be in fashion, and it is also easy to mix and match different patterns, and equally as easy to add a pop of colour when your tastes change. The stone coloured feature wall goes really well with a huge range of colours, but we love how Neeras Design Studio has decorated and paired this modern bed set with earthy tones and luxurious textures. Good lighting is also a very important aspect in a bedroom as it has the ability to change our moods, and can effect our energy in the space. Using darker tones in larger elements like a feature wall and rug, as pictured, are really only suitable for bedrooms that have access to light, or are fairly generous in size. Don't let this scare you—remember, there are many shades and tones on the market!

A splash of colour

If you look closely, the wall behind the bed is actually made from black silk! What a stunning and lavish design element! In conjunction with the textured wall to the right, the room has been giving a stately pop of hot pink, which stands out against the headboard and wall. Esteemed designers, The Ashleys, have expertly paired three different shades of grey with an opposing, yet illuminating colour to create a room that is exciting, fun and bold! As mentioned in the previous picture, grey provides a great base colour to work with. This is further evidence of that. Eventually, if you want to update the colour scheme in this room, you simply need to change the quilt and pillows—an easy, inexpensive and fun way to keep your room updated and fashionable!

Bold & beautiful

New Beginning.: Bedroom by DESIGN5

New Beginning.

If an earthy and muted colour palette is not the ideal choice for you, you can opt for a bold and beautiful example such as these pictured black resin cupboards and bed frame. Created for a newly wed couple by Design5, red is a colour synonymous for passion and good luck, and is a great way to give a modern, yet vivacious touch to a bedroom. Of course, further down the track, you can easily change the bedspread to a different tone, pattern or texture to match the next phase of your life. Darker tones have been used to great effect in this small room, as attention has been paid to ensuring there is ample access to moody, atmospheric lighting.

A bedroom first and foremost, should suit you. Don't let trends and fashions dictate what you want. It is the one room that can be shut off to the prying eyes of neighbours and guests, so you can reflect your personality and individuality here more than any other room.
