After the initial meeting to understand the client’s requirements and style preference, the team developed the design for the proposed residence. The house façade included exposed brick walls and jaali screens to create a minimalist and elegant elevation. The brick-toned jaali material adds an earthy feel to the façade. Using exposed bricks in place of claddings helped considerably reduce the construction costs of the elevations. Moreover, the jaali screens offer a functional benefit by concealing the utilities and inviting natural light and ventilation.
The combination of brick, grey, and off-white tones on the elevation lends a modern, minimalist look. The spaces are divided to provide screened and open connections between the exterior and interior spaces. Grey grills add a safety feature to the open balconies, besides blending with the grey tones on the façade, maintaining the minimalist aesthetic.

The minimalist style is the most common choice for contemporary homes. However, the design must incorporate the client’s requirements in terms of functionality. The living room features the minimalist style but can comfortably seat at least 10 guests. The bay window incorporates some of the seating while also providing a space to put one’s feet up and relax at the end of the day, watching a favourite show on TV.
The television unit is built into the wall, enhancing the minimalist design. Fabric sofas and vitrified flooring complete the look.
The minimalist theme extends to the modular kitchen with handle-less cabinets and black countertops. The designers have created a pleasing contrast using blue for the base cabinets. The storage is customised to meet the client’s requirements with a blend of open and closed units. It includes drawers, cabinets, a crockery unit, and woven-cane pull-out basket drawers.
The U-shaped kitchen layout optimises storage and workspace, providing ample room for cooking in comfort and plugging kitchen appliances.
