Courtyard house is designed by Map Architects, a team of talented architects in Bangalore. They have executed projects of varied scales and have acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the various aspects of contemporary building design. This home is incredible, with each corner designed to maximise the space available to the homeowners. The house is located in a serene area and is stunning to look at both from inside and outside.
The first glimpse of the house leaves us impressed. The structure is extensive, and the front façade covers the whole area. The elevation is divided into different sections via balconies and other design elements. The multiple balconies on the first floor are a noticeable feature.
Seen from the corner, we get a glimpse into the back portion of the house. Here too, we see that the elevation has been designed beautifully. Despite using just one colour and material, the differentiation in the sections and levels is visible.
The home extends over a large area, and we can see that the spaciousness carries through to the interior as well. A corner of the exterior houses the covered carport. The gate for vehicles is on one side so that it doesn’t infringe on the design of the front façade. We love the wooden panel used on this side of the façade to create a lattice-like design.
Stepping inside the home, we are stunned by the beautiful design. The designers have been conservative with the colour palette, but the result is gorgeous. Indoor plants brighten up the space. Our favourite feature is the dark green wall, which pulls the whole design together. The home has a lot of windows and open space, allowing sunlight to stream into the interiors.
The little details in the room are worth exploring. A simple staircase leads up to the first floor. In the corner is a stylish dining table, with high chairs providing seating. The dining table is placed directly below the open stairwell, allowing the sunlight to bathe it. An elegant glass coffee table accompanies the comfortable sofa.
The bedroom has the perfect amalgamation of colours. The bed has a wooden platform around it. The floor is covered with a comfortable rug that is soft and plush. The room has a large window, covered with Roman blinds. A wood and glass door with panels invites natural light into the room. We see the recurring pattern of pink, purple and magenta diamonds, created with tiles, which is carried throughout the interiors of the home.
A complete view of the home shows us the restrained use of colours in every room. First, we notice the recurring pattern in the flooring, which gives the house a vintage vibe. Most modern homes use marble finish tiles, but here, the designers have made a different choice. The use of varying shades of blue, green and white work quite well together, besides adding a modern twist.
