This Sample House in Shahibaug by the interior architects at Malvi Gajjar in Ahmedabad is exquisitely designed. The modern approach to the design has created a home that any modern homeowner would love to live in. The simplistic design shows us what minimal design and décor can do when done correctly. With a very simple but effective colour scheme, the home is decorated to be functional, warm, comforting and inviting. Let us take a tour of this beautiful home.

The details

Décor matters a great deal when decorating a home with minimum fuss in the overall design. If the design of the home is heavy, the décor needs to be minimal. Here, since the design has been kept quite simple, but elegant, the décor items are essential. Here, we have a stunning stone carving of Lord Buddha that was a sourced especially for this home. Throughout this home, you will see the use of stone extensively, in different places and in different ways.

The wide expanse

The wide shot of the living area is absolutely necessary to see the design as a whole. The living room continues into the dining area, with no perceptible separator used here. The wall behind the dining table is made of mirror and wooden panels, arranged in a way that forms stunning geometrical shoes. Of course the little spotlights help the design as well. The dining table and chairs are custom made with wood and jute upholstery.

The reverse shot

The reverse of the living area shows us the other side of the room. Behind the dining table is the living room with the seating area. The featured wall uses wood and concrete and also has a beautiful work of art on the wall. Right in front of this wall is an elegant upholstered sofa in beige. Accompanying the sofa set are two upholstered chairs which use the same fabric as the dining table chairs but are design slightly differently, with better back support.

The master bedroom

The master bedroom is a mash up of elegant design and modern materials. The wall behind the bed uses upholstery and mirror to create a modern chevron pattern, albeit in a unique way. The bed is placed a low wooden frame. There is a comfortable stylish sofa at the foot of the bed.

Industrial finish design

We love it when designers incorporate industrial style finish and design into regular modern design. This unfinished wall right here gives the room a fresh look, especially with the custom made wooden furniture in the room.

Mirror mirror on the wall

The use of mirrors has been done quite uniquely throughout the house. Here, we have mirror right behind the bed, flanked by tell designer wooden panels and side tables. The exquisite white wooden frame matches the peaceful blue of the bed linen perfectly.

A colourful end

The colourful bedroom is for the kids. The bright yellow, the bunk bed, and the study table all were created together to fit into the room. The room also has a lot of open area so the kids can play and relax. The Makeover of an Unbecoming Living Room.
