Located humbly amidst the skyscrapers and bars of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a small cafe with a unique name, Cureé. Its very first impression is clean and tidy space from the outdoor area with white tables and chairs along with neat. However, that's not all the secret charm.
Stepping through the door revealing warm yellow indoor light, you will be overwhelmed by the ancient high-rise designed of Malaysian architecture a decade ago. There lay the rough brick wall patches of the old house while the ceiling was renovated and some tube lights are hung. But the below space is really pleasant and relaxed. A mixture of a new coffee shop and old rustic house really makes us interesting and impressive.
If the plastic roof with the ceiling fan has made all customers completely relieved of the weather, the white tables and the beautiful red tiled yard will perfect all of your selfie photos for Instagram or Pinterest. One of the greatest advantages of cafe business is decor and Curee has done a great job.
Entrance to Curee really makes many people feel like they have been to Japan or Korea by quite typica design of glass walls, concrete seats attached to the wall and white paint with patch of rough bricks remaining. It is incredibly friendly, familiar and open to anyone no matter how new they are to Curee.
Step into the shop, you will be surrounded by the comfort mixed by the typical yellow light, green trees scattered everywhere, the rough comfort walls… The bold alternate interwoven with gentle beauty, Curee makes itself more special than dozens of cafes having the same style.
Owning a limited area, the shop owner used around 1/4 of the ground floor area for kitchen and a single simple curtain to cover in a very subtle and discreet manner. The layout is probably not new, but a small glass display of pastries and walls has made up for all the other shortages, which is so unobtrusive and adorable.
In such a limited mezzanine area, it was fantastic and creative of the owners to turn it into a fully-equipped office for many people with tables, chairs, and an LED display for presentations. While brilliantly utilizing every single inch of the area, the designers also did not forget to use bamboo bends to balance the raw wall array remaining from the old works in a thrifty and skillful way.
While green architecture is becoming more and more popular, its application in cafes or commercial spaces is still limited, which often comes up at adding more trees. In Curee, the furniture seeming unrelated as an… office closet can also become shining eye-catching and completely unique. It helps them save budget and recycle old stuff in a smart way.
In addition, tables and chairs in the shop are mostly made of natural materials such as bamboo and rattan, wood or concrete attached to the wall of the old house. It, for sure, save costs as well as time and environment pollution.
A small table next to a large window filled with light is dedicated for bookworms or those who want to work in quiet atmosphere. Set aside under the stairs, this area is completely uncluttered or narrow, but ideal for away-runner. The busy streets of Kuala Lumpur and a peaceful inspirational warm nook are separated just by a glass window.
Beautiful decorations play a very important role of romantic cafes for youngsters or tourists. Several pieces of wood are meticulously trimmed, glass vase with a branch of dried plants or tiny aquatic plant got me feeling of nature circulation which is secretly placed in each small item here.
Glass bottles and cups provide a clean, neat and synchronized touch. Simplicity, modernity and convenience of the Japanese style are knit in a cozy atmosphere.
Under a small plant near order counter is a little Lego cat—another feature of Japanese culture. Curee is always filled with little surprises for anyone who loves to explore and discover. A cafe with beautiful decor can only attract customers when they really meet the spiritual needs which is inspirational but necessary for each person.
