By definition drawing room is a room in any house where we receive and entertain our guests. However, with changing time this definition is just for dictionary. In reality drawing room has become the main activity centre of the house where family loves to hang around. After all we don’t have guests visiting our home every day. Undoubtedly this room should be decorated differently to welcome the visitors. However, this room should also have friendly and personal vibe to welcome the family warmly, encouraging them to spend some quality time together at the end of the day.

Today we have come up with warm and welcoming pictures of drawing rooms which we have picked straight from your imaginations. Have a look!

1. Formally informal

There is a lot of flexibility here, one sofa, one comfortable chair and two stools; it can be easily moved around to change the setting or make room for more. The pop of colour through the armchair and stools and then the soft lights from the floor lamp, table lamp, and the chandelier is making this room quiet special.

2. Family-friendly

The house with kids will love this décor. So no more struggle for a place on swing when you have a personal swing right at home. Even the oversize wall clock will be useful when teaching Roman numerals to the kids.

3. Mirror image

The placement of furniture is such that it is reflecting its own beauty, a mirror image. Even the lamps are exactly the same. It’s an innovative way to reflect style without using a mirror. The brick wall and wooden floor is complementing and enhancing the beauty of the décor.

4. Basking in the sun

When the room is small replace a brick and stone wall with glass wall and make the sky a part of the room. The French window brings in more than sufficient sunlight right into this rustic-style modern living room. The colour of wall matches with the sofa. The abstracts on the table are in complete sync with the décor.

5. Light and shadow

This cool room is bathing in the warmth of lights liberating from every corner of the room making the evening romantic. The intricate design of the wallpaper and cushion cover is harmonised with the solid colours making the room elegant. One cannot miss the carved legs of the centre table.

6. Playing with the patterns

The key to elegance lies in what’s beneath your feet and what’s behind you on the wall. If you love patterns, then show it. Select a signature rug and then match it with curtains. Show your creativity on the entrance door and impress the guests even before they enter the home.

7. Living with nature

If the room is small, cheer up the space with beautiful wall papers and all eyes will be on it and not in the size. Select the furniture complementing the size of the room. Either you can take the balcony in to increase the size of the room or install a glass door to bring the outside in.

8. Different shades of grey

The shades of grey are modern and chic. The coolness of the shade and the elegant charm it spreads all over soothe the nerves and relaxes the mind. The concrete walls, carpeted floor, the paintings on the wall and even the sofa covers; everything has a shade of grey in it. The only colour is a touch of blue. It’s trendy, youthful and pleasing to the eyes.

9. Comfortably stylish

Carpeted floor in three different styles, low seating comfortable sofa, a wall of windows and then paintings painted on the wall; it’s modern and sophisticated.
