Banana is a fruit which is loved by everyone and can be found easily. One may think that this fruit can only be eaten and has no other use whatsoever. But what might surprise you are the various effects a banana can have on your health and lifestyle. Even the leftover peel of a banana can be used for dealing with your daily house-hold situations. In today's ideabook we are going to talk about seven reasons why you should preserve banana peels.

1. Removes foul smell

A fresh banana peel can be used for deodorizing different areas of your home which might be influenced by a bad odor. These spaces can include toilets, kitchen dustbin area, and even the backyard sewage tanks. However, you should always remember to freeze the banana peel so that it does not invite insects. To prepare the deodorizing solution, all you need to do is immerse the frozen banana peel in a distilled spirit liquid and place it in the affected area.

2. Use it as pack pack

A banana peel is full of potassium and is considered to be an antioxidant. That is why it can be used as a beauty face pack. Before applying it to the skin make sure to refrigerate the banana peel for a couple of hours. After that, you can rub it on the desired area and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes before finally washing your face. One should always use warm water to rinse off the banana beauty pack.

3. Removes grease and burn marks

The inside of a banana peel is made out of a fibrous membrane which is a great material to absorb oil and stains. That is why these peels can be used to wipe off the stove top in your kitchen. Apart from this, you can even rub the bottom of your pots and pans with a banana peel to absorb the excess oil.

4. It tenderizes the meat

If you are planning to cook a particular dish using meat or seafood, you can still take advantage of a banana peel. It can be used to tenderize the meat by marinating it in advance. It also allows the dish to be cooked relatively quickly without letting it burn or becoming hard.

5. A good fertilizer for crops

Interestingly, a banana peel can also be used as a fertilizer. However, one should not forget that if a damp banana bark is left for too long, it might attract flies and insects. That is why you should always dry it first and then make a powder out of it which can be stored in airtight container. It can be used anytime for making your decorative garden look good.

6. Can be used for pest control

If you have a garden or a few potted plants, then you know how sensitive they are to pests. In most cases, pesticides are used to deal with similar situations. However, only a few people are happy to use these chemicals. If you are looking for a way to make a natural pesticide, then you can slice a banana skin and put it under the soil of your plants.

7. Makes your plant healthy

By adding a banana peel to your plant, you can recover its vitality. It not only removes the dust from the leaves but also makes it look fresh and healthy. Also, if you are keeping your plants at home, remember that a banana peel can prevent it from cracking.
