The balcony is an oasis of calm amidst the cacophony of modern lives and homes. For some, it is the only little outdoor space that the home has to offer. Today we want to show you how you can make the most of the outdoor space on your balcony. We would like to offer you some quick and simple tips on how to make your ordinary balcony extraordinary if you will spare us a bit of your time to browse through these beautiful pictures of balconies designed by local Indian design experts. There are various ideas for various budgets and limitations, so we hope you will find something that inspires you to create your own little tranquil space on the balcony where you can relax, unwind and enjoy a cup of chai with good company.

Colourful cushions can do a lot for a balcony—they can make it more visually interesting and cosy. It doesn't cost a lot to get a couple of cushions with covers that you like. If you like, you can mix and match different patterns and colours of cushions to make the space look more modern. 2. Potted plants

Potted plants are a must for every balcony—an outdoor space without plants is like a restaurant without food. If your balcony is really small, consider hanging up the plants instead or looking up ideas on vertical gardens. Choose a variety of different plants for best results. Flowers are a great idea to bring more colour into your balcony space, but make sure you select the plants based on how much sunlight your balcony gets as dead plants are not very appealing. Low maintenance plants like cacti are best for people who don't have much time to tend to their plants. Here are 10 tropical perennial plants for small gardens.

3. Bamboo for the natural element

Another simple natural element you can add to the balcony other than plants is bamboo, as how they have used it in this example or something much simpler. You can also use bamboo to create a trellis for your creepers and vines. Bamboo can easily be sourced locally in India and is not very costly either. Sometimes there is no better reflection of yourself than in a mural—and what better place for a mural than the balcony? The benefit of putting it on the balcony is that it will be visible from the outside and you can express yourself to the world in art form, because the mural you choose will reflect your personality.
