Kitchen cabinets are one of the essentials of any functioning kitchen. Basically they function to store away food items and kitchen accessories such as cutlery, but more importantly they keep the kitchen tidy. Having practical and effectively designed kitchen cabinets can make it a space which is much easier and more comfortable to work in. Today we would like you to show you several different kitchen cabinet storage ideas which are ideal for modern Indian homes.

We hope you will find something suitable to your taste and which is according to the style and design of your kitchen as well. Don't forget that at homify we have a huge selection kitchen units to choose from. The tags along the way will also help you gather more ideas and solutions for your kitchen storage.

1. Cabinets right up to the ceiling

If you want to maximize storage cabinets in your kitchen, then install cabinets right up to the ceiling. Make sure you store all the items you need on a regular basis at a more reachable height though. The highest cabinets should be reserved for the special kitchenware you use once in a blue moon, like that chocolate fondue set or the expensive china that you only use when guests come over.

2. Little boxes

If you're a single person or a couple, you probably won't be needing as many storage cabinets in your kitchen, so keep it simple and sweet. Take this kitchen pictured here as an example, where uniform little boxes with no doors give a unique and contemporary feel to the space. Although most kitchen cabinets tend to have doors, open kitchen cabinets can be quite practical and more accessible, especially when you need to reach for things in a hurry as you've got something cooking on the stove and masala on your hands.

3. Transparent door

Another kitchen cabinet storage idea is to install transparent doors on your cabinets so that you can see the items you need right away and still have a protective door at the same time. If your kitchen has a problem with pests, this is basically the most ideal storage solution.

4. Little niches

Not only do the little niches provide an open storage option, it also generally makes the kitchen more visually interesting. For example, the top niches could be used to store glass containers which may be used at a later point in time.

5. Country style

The best way to store everyday use kitchen utensils so that they're hidden away is in a drawer such as the one pictured here. It's definitely a great asset to any kitchen—super practical and convenient. When things are organized, kitchen work takes less effort.

7. Complimentary side tables

While kitchen cabinets are a very important part of the kitchen, households should not rely on the cabinets alone, and they should be complimented with side tables or wall shelving, especially if you enjoy decorating the kitchen.

It's a good idea to leave some empty space between the storage cabinets for open compartments where you can place ornaments to liven up the kitchen if you can afford the extra space. You can also add lighting to the compartment to achieve a greater decorative effect in the space.

Here is yet another idea for open kitchen cabinets, which is combined with various different sizes and shapes of closed cabinets. There is definitely a very noticeable trend when it comes to open kitchen cabinets. However, be warned that open cabinets can look terribly messy if not kept tidy and arranged every now and then.

10. A simple platform

Sometimes all you need is a simple platform to compliment your kitchen storage. This can be placed right above the stove and can hold all the spices and condiments that you use regularly in your cooking.

11. Airy cabinets

If you often find that you need to store away cooked food temporarily, but don't want to put it in the fridge and can't leave it outside either for fear of pests, then the most ideal solution might be a tightly fenced cabinet door with tiny ventilation holes. This will keep the food fresh and safely away from flies and other insects. For more ideas, here are some modern food storage ideas

12. Framed wooden doors with glass

In our last example, we see kitchen cabinets made out of a combination of wood and glass. We especially like the framed glass cabinets that look like elegant French-style windows—the perfect look for a minimalist kitchen.
