Interior design for a small apartment

There is a common misconception that the services of interior designers are only for the selected few who are lucky enough to live in a mansion and have a large sum in the bank. The project we are going to look at today is a great confirmation that the main task of an interior designer is not to furnish the room with expensive furniture, but to find the design solution that allows the customer to be more comfortable in the space available.

A memorable space

The room is furnished with a modest and tasteful style. Here you will not find too many elaborate decorations, or piles of toys but just enough detail to make the space fun and memorable. We’re sure that the car mural must be a big hit!

Modern kitchen

At first glance, we see a common, modern kitchen. It has everything that should be in the so-called heart of the home - comfortable furniture, cupboards, oven, stove and sink. However, a closer look reveals that there is more to this space then first meets the eye. To see what makes this room special, we need to look at it from the other side…

Living room kitchen

This photo shows a comfortable living room, decorated in a minimalist style, and, after looking more closely, we realize that this is actually the same room as in the previous photo. This design was thought up by the design studio Alfia Ilkiv, to whom the customer had put a formidable task—to combine the kitchen and living room in order to create a comfortable living space where they could eat and spend time with family and friends.

An efficient use of space

The total area of this apartment is 36 square meters, and it is home to a mother and her preschool-aged son. The homeowner turned to designers to help her organize the space so that her son was able to live in his own room. Of course, the rest of the space also had to be very liveable. Therefore, designers have made every effort to plan the kitchen so that it is not only a place to cook, but also to relax, watch TV, read books and in general, to do what is generally done in the living room.

The son's room

Little details like the lightsaber lamp reveal that this is a room for an imaginative, creative child. The space also holds a comfortable desk, large bed and plenty of storage.

The hallway

A notable feature of the hallway is the built-in wardrobe. When the size of the apartment is only 36 square meters, it is essential to use every meter, and here the expertise and experience of designers play an important role.

The bathroom

Do not rush to equate smaller houses with living in cramped conditions. The possibilities of modern technology allow you to provide maximum comfort even within a very modest amount of square meters. In a bathroom, rejecting the typical bathtub in favour of the shower allowed the designers to fit in everything you could need!

This apartment proves that small spaces, when well designed, can be just a comfy and even more cosy than large ones!
