homify 360º: an Italian beach house

It is not an easy task to maintain a beach house . Over time, sun, salt, humidity and wind eat away at the surface continuously. For this reason, beach houses frequently require renovations. Today we look at a recently renovated Italian villa situated just a few steps from the sea on the coast southeast of Rome. The home, which was built in the 60s, has been transformed into a real dream house. Have a look!

Panoramic views

Our first view is one of the most impressive parts of the villa—the terrace, which includes a jacuzzi and panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. This villa was redone, refurbished and redecorated to match the needs of the owners, a young couple with three children. It was very important to the owners to have an outdoor area with plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing with a view of the ocean. The exterior of the villa is completely white to complement the surrounding environment.

The bedroom

Here we see one of the villa’s eight bedrooms. Three of them are provided for visiting guests. The furniture in the house includes designer pieces and vintage finds from Italy, France and the United States. As for the colour and material selection, priority was given to a natural, neutral look. Linen, wool, leather, stone and wood dominate the setting—everything in neutral brown and cream tones with lots of white.

The bathrooms remain faithful to the general style of the rest of the villa. The travertine floors, which were used both indoors and outdoors, create a uniform connection between inside and outside. They were chosen not only for their elegant and natural appearance, but also for their pleasant feel, which makes walking barefoot particularly pleasant. The walls are plastered white inside and out.

Living room

The living room has open arches with sliding windows giving an unobstructed view of the terrace and the sea beyond. Here as well, natural materials and colours bring luxury, elegance and a touch of vintage charm and form a coherent and inviting overall picture.

In the kitchen, the dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces is also present. Large windows and arches allow not only a fantastic view, but also the immediate experience of the environment. In this way, when inside the house, one always feels a part of nature and can let the beauty of the landscape inside at any time.

Ending on the terrace

We end our tour where we started it—on the terrace, the heart of the villa. A large portion of family life occurs here during good weather. In fact, there are three terraces, or one that extends over three levels. So it is very easy to walk outside from every area of the house to bask in the sun, relax in the shade, splash in the pool or simply enjoy the spectacular views.
