The charm of an old apartment is unique. Today, we look at  a stylish apartment in Berlin located in an old building. The décor features a mix of timeless and modern furniture, and the many accessories and personal memorabilia create a lively and very personal living space.

The living room

Cosiness surrounds you the moment you walk into this  living room. A rectangular, low sofa was placed centrally in order to add structure to the room. A low table was selected to match the couch and placed over a warming cow skin. Indirect light sources emphasize the cosy charm of this room. The eye-catching colour variation provides a special atmosphere, while different sizes of framed pictures ensure a unique, eclectic vibe.

The best position for a desk is in front of a window, which allows plenty of natural light to illuminate the work surface. In addition, if you need a bit of a distraction from work, you can gaze out upon this lovely, green view. The white, floor-length drapes frame the work area. The chrome frame of the chair and the desk provide a light contrast to the cream tone. The cowhide rug fulfils two functions: first, it provides comfort, and second, it protects the parquet floors from unsightly scratches from the swivel chair. The modern interpretation of a chandelier completes the look.

The dining room

A large table provides a convivial space for dining and chatting. The rustic wooden table is accompanied by eight modern, white chairs. Behind the dining room, we see the cast-iron railings of the balcony, which contribute to the dreamy, romantic feeling. The most important design element in almost every room of the apartment is the double casement windows since they let in so much light.

Modern furniture

The use of modern furniture and decorative items is essential in older buildings to create a contemporary style. Here is a cosy and stylish corner perfect for reading. The beige of the modern chair is taken up by the lampshade and produces a bright atmosphere. Graphic patterns in combination with bright colours catapult the reading corner in the present.

Colourful corner

Here is a slightly different corner look. Bright colours are captivating in this area and conjure a modern, homey atmosphere. The gold paint on the side table and the velvet of the chair conjure a refined setting.

Natural bedroom

Natural colours and materials work well in the bedroom. The wood creates a simple environment for a restful sleep. A small antique chest, which stands at the end of the bed, provides a convenient way to store bedding. White linens and curtains counteract the rustic wood and bring a sparkling freshness to the room.
