Marmelo Design Company, located in Seoul, Korea, are the design minds behind this lovely interior. The studio has extensive experience in providing design solutions for homes, interior spaces, and commercial spaces for their various clients.

This 145 square metre home is somewhat larger than the average house size in Korea, and the design is characteristic of the firm's style; contemporary, sophisticated, and donning a touch of Scandinavian flair. Let's step inside and take a look!

The living room

The living room features large natural stone tiles. The earthy material and colour palettes are continued throughout the space. We've come to almost expect white walls, but here a taupe colours the vertical planes.

The furniture is simple: a black leather couch with ottoman and a sleek timber table atop a cowhide rug. It has a strong composition and there is no mistaking that the various elements have been carefully arranged. Some decorations are spotted around the room, namely a large potted plant and a couple of wall hangings which sit just above the couch.

The dining room

The dining room is, perhaps, the most delightful room in the space. Opening onto a balcony, the space receives ample natural lights. White running bond subway tiles give the room an industrial edge which is softened by the timber elements.

Asymmetry is favoured is the otherwise very rational space. The table features bench seating along the wall side and individual chairs along the other. The entire dining arrangement has a Scandinavian look; from the chairs to the pendant lights.

Dining delight

It's just too beautiful to not take a second look! The chairs are a design feat—the padded leather adds some homely comfort. And those lights, suspended at just the right point so the align with the material change from subway tiles to timber.

The kitchen

The kitchen doesn't exhibit quite the love and detail that was invested in the dining space, but the simple and functional space is very effective. A paired back material palette has a hygienic industrial feel. Form follows function or so the famous platitude goes.

We have compiled plenty more kitchen examples here for all your inspiration needs!

The hallway

The doors to the hallway feature large windows, broken up with decorative black divisions and a combination of clear and textured glass. This established a connection between the otherwise disparate spaces and allows light to move between the different areas. It is an effective device to ensure the spaces do not feel truncated or disconnected.
